Join us for the
Western Medical Research Conference
January 20-22, 2022
The Western Medical Research Conference is a collaborative conference between four organizations to highlight regional research efforts and encourage collaboration and learning among medical students, residents, fellows and faculty within the western region. Topics of research encompass all aspects of biomedical research. This year we have a new category for abstracts focusing on topics and research relating to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
The four societies include the Western Section of the American Federation for Medical Research (WAFMR), Western Society for Pediatric Research (WSPR), Western Association of Physicians/Western Society of Clinical Investigation (WAP/WSCI) and the Western Students & Residents Medical Research Forum (WSMRF).
Welcome to the Western Region of the American Federation for Medical Research (WAFMR)!
Our organization aims to support the development of biomedical investigators of today and the future. We offer many opportunities for new and established scientists including reporting your research, participating in regional and national leadership, interacting in mentorship and collaborations, and promoting biomedical research on a national level. In particular, the AFMR journals — the Journal of Investigative Medicine (JIM) and JIM-High Impact Case Reports (JIM-HICR) — provide an excellent venue for publishing your work.
Our Western Medical Research Conference (WRMC), held annually in beautiful Carmel, California, is a fabulous place to present your work and learn more about how to forge a career in research. We pivoted our January 2020 meeting to a two-day virtual research extravaganza with more than 600 abstracts submitted. Submit your research abstract and plan to attend the conference January 20-22, 2022.
Last year, AFMR launched its Virtual Education Series providing career development topics covering mentorship and scientific writing and presentations on cutting-edge research by our members. Also, if you would like to participate more in WAFMR through leadership at your institution or in other ways, including being the representative for your medical school on the Western Section Council, please contact the WAFMR.
