AFMR mission to "develop and mentor tomorrow's leaders in medical research"

The AFMR also recognizes trainees with national awards, such as the Henry Christian awards, named after the founder of the organization, Dr. Henry Christian. The AFMR strives to foster the development of future generations of clinical scientists and investigators through its initiatives, while encouraging public, private, and governmental investment in the development of these individuals.
