The following AFMR awards are presented annually to individuals whose abstracts are accepted for presentation at the Western Medical Research Conference (WMRC) in Carmel, California:
WAFMR Young Investigator Award
This is awarded to an outstanding junior faculty at the instructor or assistant professor level, selected by the AFMR Western Section Council.
WAFMR Scholar Awards
These awards are for top scoring abstracts from fellows or junior faculty. Award funds are intended to defray the costs for participation in the WMRC.
WAFMR/WAP Outstanding Resident Award
This award is given to the resident with the top scoring abstract. Award funds are intended to defray the costs for participation in the WMRC.
WAFMR/WAP Student Subspecialty Awards
This award is given to students with top scoring abstracts. Award funds are intended to defray the costs for participation in the WMRC.
- You or your mentor (in the case of students and trainees) must be a member in good standing of the AFMR prior to receiving your award. If not a member, join AFMR online!
- Awardees must be the first author/presenter of the abstract accepted for presentation at the WMRC.
- Recipients are required to be present at the WMRC to receive their award.
You may apply for awards at the time of abstract submission. Please choose the award that you are eligible for from the dropdown menu. Be sure to check a box in order to be considered for an award.
