|Junior Physician-Investigator Awards
This award was created to honor young investigators whose research projects complement an overall program of research, teaching and clinical medicine. Each year, the awards will be given to the presenter (or first author) of the most outstanding abstracts submitted to one of the AFMR Regional Meetings. Abstracts submitted to the Western Regional Medical Conference in Carmel, the Southern Regional Meeting in New Orleans, the Combined Midwestern Meeting in Chicago and the Eastern Regional Meeting in Washington, DC that meet the requisite criteria are eligible to apply and will be judged on both the quality of the abstract submitted and their career accomplishments. Awardees will receive 1-year complimentary AFMR membership, a Certificate of Excellence, $1,000 honorarium and 1-day complimentary meeting registration (if necessary).
Award winners will be required to present their work in person via poster or brief presentation at the annual Eastern Regional Meeting held each April in Washington, D.C., and attend the AFMR Henry Christian Awards Reception. To be considered, a candidate must be a physician who has held a full-time medical school faculty appointment for five years or less.
To qualify for the Junior Physician Investigator Awards, applicants must be AFMR members in good standing. To renew membership and pay annual dues, please click here.
