Dr. Goyal is the Endocrinologist at NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr. Goyal's current project involves establishing Diabetes Biobank at NYU Langone Health's new Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Health to investigate the relationship between diabetes and heart disease. This will help physicians and researchers address some of the most pressing questions in clinical care: Why do some people fare better with diabetes than others? Why do some develop complications and others do not? Dr. Goyal has begun recruiting patients with diabetes or pre-diabetes needed for the biobank’s first initiative, a five-year longitudinal study that focuses primarily on risk stratification. Her interests also focuses on defining the role of hypoglycemia and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. She is also involved in insulin pump education program for Endocrine fellows at NYU.
Prior to NYU, she was a faculty at Montefiore Medical Center during which her research focused on understanding and exploring the underlying pathophysiology of diabetes with the help of state-of-the-art pancreatic clamps. She has been involved in the Global Diabetes Institute at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has been part of a project examining the pathophysiology of malnutrition-modulated diabetes mellitus in India since 2010.
Dr. Goyal received her medical degree from the Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, India. She then completed her residency training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Jacobi Medical Center and fellowship in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr Goyal is currently the Secretary-Treasurer of AFMR Eastern Region.
